Something That Lasts
Piedmont Metals began in 1954 as a small ornamental iron shop founded by W. Howard and Mary Frances Troxler in Burlington, North Carolina. What started as a family craft has grown — through three generations of Troxler leadership — into one of the region’s most capable structural steel fabricators.
From Howard’s early NOMMA presidency and the transition into full structural fabrication, to Rockie’s two decades of growth, to Jeremy’s expansion into new facilities, advanced technology, and AISC certification, every chapter of our history reflects the same commitment: build it right, build it to last.
Today, with multiple facilities across North Carolina and capabilities that span laser cutting, plasma, coatings, and OEM manufacturing, Piedmont Metals is still a family company — just a much bigger one.
Formed in May 1954 by W. Howard and Mary Frances Troxler at 222 Andrews Street (later changed to Webb Ave.), Burlington, N.C. as Piedmont Metals.
Joined National Ornamental Metal Manufacturers Association (NOMMA)
Howard served as NOMMA President; transitioned into full structural fabrication; moved to 215 MacArthur Lane, Glen Raven, NC
Incorporated in 1981 and renamed Piedmont Metals of Burlington, Inc.
Rockie D. Troxler named President following Howard’s retirement
Stair/rail division added; plasma torch facility added
New OEM parts fabrication line
New majority owner; Jeremy D. Troxler named President
Shop & Office 5S Upgrades
New internal ERP and traceability system
Warehouse renovations; 3,200 SF flexible fabrication space
