Formed in May 1954 by W. Howard and Mary Frances Troxler at 222 Andrews Street (later changed to Webb Ave.), Burlington, N.C. as Piedmont Metals.

First established as an ornamental iron shop for residential railings and columns.

Joined National Ornamental Metal Manufacturers Association (NOMMA) in 1957

Howard served as President of NOMMA in 1978-79.

Increasing need for small structural items initiated a transition into full structural fabrication.

Piedmont Metals was moved to 215 MacArthur Lane in Glen Raven, N.C. to a new 15,000 sq. ft. facility more suitable for structural steel fabrication

Ornamental Iron Division was moved to 126 W. Fifth Street, Burlington, N.C. in 1978 and operated there for 28 years.

Incorporated in 1981 and renamed Piedmont Metals of Burlington, Inc.

Howard and Mary’s son Rockie D. Troxler was name as President of the company following the retirement of Howard in 1983.
